Hello my friends. How are you doing today? Happy New Year and Valentine's Day Weekend/SuperBowl Weekend too. It's a lot of festivities this weekend huh? Lol...
Today is a beautiful day and it's night time while I write this post and since it's been a while since my last post, I thought to myself; "why not post a blog tonight?' So, here we go!
The kids and I are in Marriott Marquis Atlanta for the weekend and it's wonderful. The kids were looking foward to swimming and dipping in the hot tub but were a little disappointed when they were told they couldn't swim because of an issue with the pool area and by the time the pool area is fixed, we would've been long home and settled back to our routine lol.. So maybe next time we come back, the pool will be available for the kids.
Inspite of the pool situation, we figured a way to still enjoy our stay; such as ordering room service and touring the hotel. We were also supposed to go out and eat dinner at Benihannah's but didn't do it because it was raining and so could outside. It felt safer and wiser to order room service. The food was delicious too.
Now, here's a question I have; If you are a parent reading this, do you ever get scared and worked up when you're planning a family getaway or vacation? Do you get overwhelmed and almost feel like cancelling the whole trip because of that?
Well, I get that feeling all the time. It's like when it's time to get the kids out of the house for a getaway, I suddenly get overwhelmed and this got me thinking about other parents who never go anywhere with their kids. I'm starting to believe that many parents choose to stay at home because it's easier and safe. At least while they are at home, they don't have to worry about juggling the kids around, looking for the best palce to eat and other things in between.
If you get overwhelmed and scared the next time you're planning a trip with your kids, here's my advise for you; pray and go anyways. You've got to face your fears and get out eventually. Just take a break from your daily routine and house for a fresh location with your family. It helps renew your energy and opens the door for a fresher perspective for everyone.
Parents, try to relax and breathe. The kids will be fine and you will be too.
I can be uptight when it comes to my kids and their wellbeing but I'm learning to relax more and breathe. With God's help, I have gotten better with being more relaxed and enjoying the moment.
My advise to you, enjoy the moment. Don't allow a moment that should be fun become work and stressful for you. Breathe intentionally and smile.
I hope this cheered you up in some way.
Don't Steal Your Own Joy!
Maryam
